Prompt: A Thousand Years
prompted by: Rebecca McCullough, during Sketch Fest #75 (May, 2016)

This artist has posted at least one finished version of this piece!

An old dragon guards the ruins. I might rework parts of the background before inking, but otherwise I am satisfied with it. Thank you for the inspiring prompt!

Mayumi Ogihara says: Fantastic sketch!! I'd love to lean how to draw a dragon. Do you know any books or tutorials that I can use? ~ Reply?

SpringDragon replied to this: Thank you. Hmm, there is one book I've used some that is quite excellent, The Art of Drawing Dragons by Michael Dobrzycki. I rarely use it anymore, but it gave me a boost when I was still a beginner at it. Mainly I just use the basics of animal anatomy and skeletal/muscular structure to create my dragons, and look for references of other dragons when I need a little extra inspiration.

Rebecca McCullough says: Absolutely wonderful! Can't wait to see it when it's inked. Awesome work! ~ Reply?
