EMG Sketch Fest #111

Welcome to July’s Sketch Fest Saturday! This is our eleventy-first Sketch Fest, but don’t worry – we won’t make a puzzling speech like “I don’t know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.” before disappearing with a magic ring.

Let’s dive into some featured illustrations before you tumble down into the full gallery.

The founder of our Sketch Fest feast, Ellen Million, had the first piece of art uploaded to our gallery this weekend! This art card is an overdue Junicorn sketch; “Falling Star Filly” is colored pencils on colored paper measuring 2.5″ x 3.5″ and can be purchased for $15.

“Centaur of Attention” by Becca “Boo” Moore

We love a fun pun, and Becca “Boo” Moore has tickled our funny bones with “Centaur of Attention.” Becca said, “I think she turned out really pretty and fun” and we agree! The original ink and marker sketch on 8.5″ x 11″ cardstock can be purchased for $35.

This handsome fellow is “Moon Fox” and, in artist Linda Sayegh’s own words, a “cute little fox sitting out in the moonlight.” This illustration is in colored pencils and Sharpie paint pen on Strathmore toned tan paper measuring 5″ x 7″. Snag the original drawing for $45!

This is Holly Broxson’s first Sketch Fest as an artist, and she’s drawn this fantastic fungus witch in ink in her sketchbook. This is one look we’d love to see cosplayed!

Tesha Gaither drew this charming “baticorn” with a fruitbat face in a lovely shade of purple.

We’re over 24 hours in to #EMGSketchFest 106! Have you been by the gallery yet? We’ve got 18 participants so far who’ve contributed over 40 creations to the gallery – including unicorns and mermaids and baby dragons. There’s even sculpture!

First up, we have a sketch from the founder of our Sketch Fest feast, Ellen Million! Drawing on Nicole Madden’s wintry prompt of “Unicorn in a snowy scenery,” Ellen Million said about her ACEO pencil sketch: “Well, I didn’t get the snowy scenery in, but maybe it’s snowing really hard…” You can snap up the original drawing for only $5!

This sweet little bat was sketched by Jill Britt, inspired by Rosie Wells!

Linda Sayegh drew this gorgeous fox – or “Kitsune” – with colored pencils and sharpie paint pen on toned Canson Mi-Tientes acid-free paper. 5×7 inches.

Sarah Alden left the prompt “Little Hearts” and Maria Gonzalez spun that seed into this lovely and fanciful 4×6 inches sketch. Titled “Two of Hearts,” this drawing was done in colored pencils on toned paper and the original is available for $18!

Lorna Cowie, inspired by Sarah Alden’s prompt “Violet Flowers,” drew these violet flowers and amethyst crystals in the style of her coloring pages.

Sketch Fest Saturday with EMGSketchFest 105

Welcome to #EMGSketchFest Saturday! It’s bitter cold and/or rainy in the multilocational EMG offices, so we’re looking forward to staying warm and getting creative with all of you. Let’s take a look at some featured sketches from the gallery so far.

Kathy Nutt got the first sketch in this Sketch Fest with her imposing “Winter Forest Guardian,” which she describes as “Ent sketch with Micron pen.”

blopdotink has joined us for another Sketch Fest, sharing “itsapolarbear!” from her blopmess Christmas calendar: “It’s a continuous story with an ink illustration per day until Christmas and I am excited to base it (partly) on sketchfest prompts again. Let’s find out what mischief my blops are up to and what role their newly discovered ‘polar bear’ plays.” We can’t wait to find out!

“Cats in a Christmas Tree” by Julie Cooper

I laughed out loud when I saw Julie Cooper’s “Cats in a Christmas Tree.” I feel like this is exactly what would happen with enough cats around sparkling lights, shiny tinsel, and something to climb.

This adorably fluffy bear was created by Linda Sayegh: “A cute little Teddy Bear getting ready for Christmas. Colored pencils and a bit of Sharpie paint pen on toned Canson Mi-Tientes acid free paper. 5 x 7 inches.” You can actually purchase the original sketch of this piece!

Our final sketch – for now! – is “Red in Snow” by Harkalya Reveur and we really hope she does more work on it! She said she spent 20 minutes rough sketching here to create a concept sketch.

EMG Sketch Fest #104

Welcome to our November #EMGSketchFest Saturday! Our 104th Sketch Fest began yesterday – let’s take a peek at some of the work done so far.

Linda Sayegh had the honor of first illustration this month with her colored pencils illustration of a baby panda. She also drew the sublime “Galaxy,” inspired by Julie Cooper’s prompt “A black animal silhouette on a galaxy of bright stars.” The original 5×7 illustration, colored pencil on black Canson Ph-balanced paper, may be available for purchase later – check back!

“Is That Supposed to Be Blue?” by Kathy Nutt

Kathy Nutt’s droll “Is That Supposed to Be Blue?” depicts a “cardinal couple [who] are wondering about the egg that hatched in their nest.” The original painting measures 6×4.5 and is micron pen and metallic ink wash on watercolor paper. It may also be available for purchase later, so check back.

“The Lonely Heart of the Snow Queen” by Regina Mailloux

Regina Mailloux captured the evocative nature of fairy tales with “The Lonely Heart of the Snow Queen.” This pensive and yearning figure was created in graphite and acrylic washes on Canson watercolor paper. The original 7×10 illustration is available for $30!

This pale and ethereal “Winter Mermaid” by Eimiel was drawn using colored pencils.

Our last featured illustration for now is “Throwl” from Harkalya Reveur. Inspired by the prompt “the three eyed owl” from Julie Cooper, this graphite sketch depicts an otherworldly owl with a snack and far more than three eyes!

Sketch Fest 102: After Action Report

For our 102nd Sketch Fest, we had two dozen participating artists contribute more than 100 creations to our gallery! We were feeling the onset of fall with a bevy of autumnal faeries, fall-colored owls, candy corn-colored bats, and more. There are over 2 dozen illustrations you can buy – whether original or print – as well!

This was artist Linda Sayegh’s first Sketch Fest, and she drew several great sketches, including this “Flutter Kitty.” Here’s what Linda has to say: “Adorable little Fairy cat waiting for some snuggles and a new forever home. Thank you to Paola Zunico for the prompt.” This piece was done in colored pencils, Sharpie paint pen, and Signo gel pens on light grey Mi-Tientes acid-free paper. You can purchase the original 6″ x 8″ sketch for $45!

“Sanguine” by Maria J. William depicts the most curious and bright-eyed, shell-bedecked mermaid! Drawn in colored pencils, pastels, white charcoal, and white acrylic on toned paper, you can snag the original 6″ x 8″ portrait for $40 or two different sizes of open edition print for $7-$10!

Welcome back to Sketch Fest, Majen Jewel! “Going Somewhere” is one of her first illustrations for Sketch Fest in over two years and we’re loving it. As Majen said, “It is fun to both follow and lead.” This illustration is drawn in colored pencils and markers on 11″ x 4″ Bristol.

Paola Zunico drew gorgeous, luminous butterflies in “Monarchs in Autumn.” Her 5.5″ x 8.5″ illustration is on Canson paper and can go home with you for only $45!

Erika Harm drew this “Fae Cat” in all their implicit arrested mischief – invite this feline fairy into your home by picking up the original watercolor painting – 4.5″ x .25″ on watercolor paper, only $15!

Feel wild and free when you gaze at “Midnight Riders” by Peter C.M. van Herpt. These moonlit riders gallop across the page in pen and ink from Conté à Paris.

Perhaps we can feel the summer fading in Eimiel’s “Rain Song” – a gentle downpour of warm rain with the barest chill. This illustration is graphite and Polychromos colored pencils.
